I primarily consider myself a qualitative research. Numbers can show us the depth of a health problem, but understanding the actual felt effects of the issue from the people experiencing it helps show us why the issue exists in the first place and how we can best help the communities affected by it.
My work in program evaluation has largely focused on qualitative and mixed methods approaches as well as community-based participatory research. I have completed three internships with a focus on program evaluation and learned a variety of data collection methods and report-writing through these experiences.
While my work is predominately qualitative, I understand the value of mixed methods and qualitative research as well. In both my undergraduate and graduate studies, I completed coursework focused on statistics and public health data analysis.
