Program Evaluation

My work in program evaluation has largely focused on qualitative and mixed methods approaches as well as community-based participatory research. I have completed three internships with a focus on program evaluation and learned a variety of data collection methods and report-writing through these experiences.

James Bell Associates

Through this internship, I provided evaluation technical assistance to home visiting programs within the 50 US states, US tribal nations, and US territories. I created and distributed surveys through Qualtrics to collect demographic data from the programs and completed an annotated bibliography on ROI, evidence-based home visiting programs, and adult learning in technical assistance.

North Carolina Network for Safe Communities

In this internship, I assisted the Winston-Salem Police Department in decision-making surround the implementation and evaluation of a real-time crime center. I wrote a literature review of RTCCs, trained an undergraduate research assistant in thematic data analysis, and scheduled and conducted remote group interviews of 17 WSPD employees.

Wake Forest Clinical Translation Center

Through this internship, I build and monitored a survey in REDCap to track clinical and translational science efforts of CTSI scholars. I helped draft and submit and IRB protocol to evaluate the CTSI program, and I wrote a report analyzing the evaluation of the K Writer's Award Series to inform future program planning.

Reproductive Health Program for Women in Drug Treatment

As an undergraduate research assistant, I worked with Dr. Tracy Nichols and a team of student researchers to evaluate a reproductive health education program for women in methadone treatment. I interviewed 12 study participants and observed and wrote field notes for 10 classes. I then worked with the team to code and analyze the data using Atlas.ti. The work culminated in a publication in the International Journal of Childbirth Education.
